Padelholics Anonymous: The 12 Steps

Step 1. We admitted we were powerless over padel—that our calendars had become unmanageable.

Step 2. Came to believe that only more court bookings could restore us to sanity.

Step 3. Made a decision to turn our will and our weekends over to padel, one set at a time.

Step 4. Made a fearless inventory of our rackets, shoes, and endless ball tubes.

Step 5. Admitted to ourselves, our doubles partner, and our coach the exact nature of our unforced errors.

Step 6. Were entirely ready to stop blaming the wind or the sun for missed smashes.

Step 7. Humbly asked our fitter friends to forgive our obsession with warm-up drills.

Step 8. Made a list of all opponents we had wronged—and planned rematches with them all.

Step 9. Offered sincere apologies to family and friends who lost us to late-night tie-breaks (and invited them to play next time).

Step 10. Continued to take self-inventory, and when we skipped gym day for padel, promptly admitted it.

Step 11. Sought through rallies and rallies only to improve our connection with padel strategy as we understood it, praying only for better volleys and lighter rackets.

Step 12. Having had a padel awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to other padelholics, and to practice these principles in every match, tournament, and group chat.
