Consistency Drilling Session: Transition & Defend
Know the shots but struggle with consistency? Learn the mechanics, build better execution, and get more repetitions through a structured 3-hour session.
👤 Who is this for
This session is designed for mid beginners to high beginners who want to improve their consistency in transitioning and defending.
You don't need perfect mechanics or mastery of every shot.
We will work on the fundamentals of:
1. Forehand drives.
2. Drops and transition resets.
3. Dinks and rolls.
4. Blocks, punches, and flicks.
5. Reading incoming balls and selecting appropriate attacks.
6. Whether you're still developing these shots or struggling to execute them consistently, this session provides a structured environment t learn and practice.
👀 Why This Drilling Is Different
Learn, then drill. Understand the mechanics before progressing into structured repetitions.
Organized progression. Eight drills arranged from controlled exchanges to more demanding situations.
Small-group setup. Maximum of 6 players, divided into two groups for an organized rotation.
Intensity-aware progression. Lower-intensity drills, more demanding work, and recovery periods are deliberately arranged.
80–90 minutes of individual playing time (estimated). Get substantial repetitions across multiple shots within one session.
Equipment-ready setup. Balls, ball trolley, and picker help keep the drills moving.
Unlike a regular open play, this session has a defined learning and drilling sequence. The objective is not just to hit more balls, but to develop better execution through structured practice.
🎯 What You Will Actually Do
Eight drills, progressing from controlled exchanges to more demanding situations:
Figure 8 Paired Dinks — practise consistent dinks through changing pairings.
Dink–Speedup–Block — transition from cooperative dinking into an attacking exchange.
Figure 8 Drives — practise drives through straight and cross-court patterns.
Ball Reading + Attack — read incoming feeds and execute rolls, flicks, or smashes.
Figure 8 Paired Volleys — build control and consistency during volley exchanges.
Volley 3x–Flick–Counter–Block — connect volleying with attacking and defensive responses.
Groovy Rolls and Resets — practice resetting into the kitchen while receiving rolls from an opponent.
Seven-Eleven — apply your practiced skills in a competitive transition-focused game.
The session runs for 3 hours, allowing time for mechanical instruction, demonstrations, structured drilling, and game application.
