PADDLE CIRCLE AT THE PICKLE POINT

Home Court Rules & Player Guidelines

Our goal is simple: better matchups, competitive games, fair rotations, and an environment where every player gets challenged at the right level.

1. Leveling is part of the Open Play.

Players may be grouped according to playing level so matches are more balanced, competitive, and enjoyable. The goal is not to label players. It is to create better games.

2. Expect matchups to change.

Levels are guides, not permanent rankings. Organizers may adjust players and matchups throughout the session based on actual gameplay, attendance, court availability, and the overall quality of matches.

3. Competitive matches are the priority.

Whenever possible, we will match players with others who can challenge them appropriately. We want rallies to be competitive, games to feel earned, and players to have opportunities to improve.

4. Players may request fixed partners.

If you want to play with the same partner throughout the session, you may do so. Just inform the organizers before play begins so we can include your pair properly in the rotation and leveling system.

5. Respect court assignments and rotations.

Please follow the organizers' court assignments and matchups. Avoid taking or holding a court outside the rotation unless cleared with the organizers.

6. Rotate promptly after every game.

Once your game ends, clear the court so the next group can begin. Keeping the rotation moving means more games for everyone.

7. First game warm-up: 1-minute dink.
Before a player's first game of the session, players on court will have one minute of dinking to warm up and get comfortable. After that, games should begin promptly. No extended warm-ups between succeeding games.

8. Play hard, but play with sportsmanship.

Competitive play is encouraged. Arguments, disrespectful behavior, intentionally dangerous play, or poor sportsmanship are not.

9. Make fair calls.

Call the score clearly before serving. Make honest line calls and give your opponents the benefit of the doubt on close balls. When necessary, replay the point rather than allowing a disagreement to disrupt the game.

10. Safety comes before the point.

Be aware of your partner, opponents, surrounding courts, and loose balls. Stop play immediately when a ball enters the court or when there is an unsafe situation.

11. Respect The Pickle Lot and the Paddle Circle community.

Keep the facility clean, take care of the courts and equipment, and follow all venue policies.

12. Organizer decisions are made for the quality of the Open Play.

Sandy and Brent may adjust levels, matchups, rotations, and court assignments when necessary to create better games and keep the session running smoothly.

A Note About Leveling

Leveling is not about proving who is better.

It is about putting players in matches where they can compete, learn, and be challenged.

Some games may feel tougher than others.
That's intentional. Players may also move between groups as the session progresses.

Our goal is:

Closer games. Better rallies. Better competition. Better pickleball.
