🎯 PLAYING LEVEL: LOW TO HIGH NOVICE

Minimum DUPR: 2.50 (NRs are also welcome if you deem that is your skills are appropriate).

This session is specifically for Low Novice to High Novice players.

Please manage your expectations before joining.

This is NOT a High Novice-only or Advanced Open Play.

🚫 If you are looking for advanced opponents, advanced partners, or you expect every player to be at your exact level or higher, please do not register for this session.

Because this is a Low-to-High Novice Open Play, you may be paired with or matched against players who are stronger or less experienced than you.

That is part of the format.

We will do our best to create fair and enjoyable matchups, but we cannot guarantee that every partner or opponent will have the same DUPR or playing level as you.

DUPR is only a guide and does not fully define a player’s actual skill level. Court experience, consistency, game awareness, movement, shot selection, and overall playing ability will also be considered.

Players joining should generally be able to:

• Serve and return with reasonable consistency
• Sustain rallies beyond just a few shots
• Understand basic doubles positioning and court movement
• Know when to move toward the kitchen
• Execute basic dinks, volleys, drives, and controlled shots
• Understand scoring and standard pickleball rules
• Begin using shot placement and simple strategy
• Handle a faster pace of play with reasonable consistency
• Be comfortable playing competitive games

🎮 PLAY FORMAT

• Game rotation and matchmaking via PickleQ
• Matches are played up to 11 points only
• Sudden death at 10–10. Next point wins.
• No play-for-serve. First serve will be determined through Bato-Bato Pick / Rock-Paper-Scissors
• Players manage their own line calls, scoring, and game flow
• DUPR results will be submitted after the session

Please cooperate with the rotation system so everyone gets a fair opportunity to play.

⚖️ PLAYER EXPECTATIONS & COURT CONDUCT

Second Serve welcomes competitive play, but good sportsmanship is non-negotiable.

Bawal mayabang. Bawal pikon. Bawal sore loser.

Please remember that this is an Open Play. Your partner may not always be your preferred level, and your opponent may sometimes be stronger or weaker than you.

🚫 • Do not blame, embarrass, insult, shout at, or belittle your partner because of missed shots or mistakes.

🚫 Do not mock, intimidate, bully, or deliberately target less experienced players simply to prove a point.

Second Serve has zero tolerance for disrespectful, intimidating, or abusive behavior on court.

Players who intentionally humiliate, threaten, bully, or repeatedly engage in unsportsmanlike conduct may be permanently banned from joining Second Serve Open Plays and events.

For serious or repeated incidents, the organizers may also inform other event organizers of the conduct for player safety and proper event management.

Respect all players regardless of DUPR, experience, age, gender, or playing style.

🚫 NO INTENTIONAL BODYBAGGING OR DANGEROUS PLAY

We understand that body shots can naturally happen during fast pickleball rallies.

However, clearly intentional or repeated bodybagging meant to intimidate, embarrass, retaliate against, or hurt another player will not be tolerated.

The same applies to any deliberate physical aggression toward a partner or opponent.

Competitive play is welcome.

Deliberately trying to hurt someone is not.

Players who repeatedly display unsafe, disrespectful, or unsportsmanlike behavior may be asked to sit out or leave the session at the discretion of the organizers.

🤝 COURT ETIQUETTE

• Respect players, organizers, spectators, and court staff
• Make fair and honest line calls
• When unsure whether a ball is out, give the benefit of the doubt to your opponent
• Avoid unnecessary arguments over calls or scores
• Do not intentionally delay games or disrupt rotations
• Encourage your partner instead of blaming them
• Win graciously and lose graciously
• Play hard, but keep the games safe and respectful
• Please arrive on time so matchmaking and rotations can begin as scheduled

Leave the ego outside the court.

If you want exclusively advanced partners or opponents, this is not the session for you.

If you want competitive games, different matchups, good rallies, and a respectful pickleball community, you are very welcome here.

⚠️ SAFETY & LIABILITY DISCLAIMER

Participation in this Open Play is voluntary and at the player’s own risk.

By joining, each player acknowledges that pickleball involves inherent risks, including slips, falls, collisions, muscle strains, accidental contact, and other sports-related injuries.

Second Serve and its organizers will exercise reasonable care in managing the session. However, accidents, injuries, loss, or damage arising from the ordinary risks of play are generally outside the responsibility of the organizers, except to the extent otherwise required by law.

Players are responsible for assessing their own physical condition, playing within their limits, and exercising proper care for themselves and others.

A basic first aid kit will be available on-site for minor incidents. In case of a more serious injury or emergency, appropriate medical assistance may be sought as necessary.

Please play safely, stay hydrated, warm up properly, and immediately inform the organizers of any injury or unsafe condition.
