OPPA Pickleball Open Play Rules

3 Hours | 28 Players 3 courts

General Rules

* Open play is for fun, fair games, and meeting new players.
* Respect all players, staff, and court assignments.
* No shouting, paddle throwing, or unsportsmanlike behavior.
* Players must be ready when called. Missed turns may be skipped.

Player Format

* Maximum of 28 players only.
* Games are played on a rotation basis.
* Players rotate after every game to allow everyone equal playtime.
* Partners and opponents may change every round.

Court Rotation

* Winners stay for 1 game only, then rotate out.
* Losing team rotates out immediately.
* New players enter based on paddle queue/order.
* If courts are full, place your paddle in the designated queue area.

Game Rules

* Standard pickleball rules apply.
* side out scoring race to 11
* Games are played:
* First to 11 points
*deuce until 11 and slide to 12
* Warm-up time is limited to keep games moving.

Time Management

* Open play duration: 3 Hours
* Please help keep games fast and smooth.
* No long breaks while others are waiting.
* Players resting for extended periods may lose their spot in rotation.

Safety & Sportsmanship

* Call lines fairly and honestly.
* Avoid dangerous shots when players are near the net.
* Respect all skill levels.
* Beginners are welcome.

Important Reminders

* Bring your own paddle
* Keep personal belongings organized.
* Organizers may adjust rotations if needed to maximize playtime for everyone.
